The Old Fashioned Walnut & Cherry Coffee Table
Custom crafted Walnut and Cherry Coffee Table sourced as reclaimed local lumber directly from a farm in Mazomanie, WI.
Short of harvesting the wood from the trees up the hill, it would be hard to get closer to the source than we do with this piece. I met Carl on FB and had a great time visiting ‘the shed behind the house’ and hand selecting pieces reclaimed by his family as their time being a living tree comes to an end. I simply love the simplicity of extending the impact these trees have long after they’ve fallen.
I used maple bowties and minimal epoxy to stop and fill the cracks that are inevitably a part of the flawed beauty that define our lives and the best pieces of furniture.
Hand finished with many coats of a satin polyurethane; all of the work is done in our family’s woodshop just beyond the Terminal Moraine in Cross Plains, WI.
